At CIVIC Foundation, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey. Lifelong learning emphasizes the importance of continuously acquiring knowledge, skills, and experiences throughout an individual’s life. It goes beyond formal education, encompassing a wide range of opportunities that contribute to personal growth, professional development, and social empowerment. This approach nurtures curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to self-improvement, enabling individuals to stay relevant in an ever-changing world.
CIVIC Foundation encourages individuals to actively seek new knowledge, engage in critical thinking, and embrace challenges, fostering both personal fulfillment and professional success.
Our lifelong learning program began in 2013, initiated by the UNESCO Office in Dhaka as part of the ‘Non-Formal Education Delivery Mechanism’ pilot program. Through collaboration with multiple stakeholders, the initiative established 24 Community Learning Centers (CLCs) across 8 unions in Rangpur Sadar and Kaunia Upazilas. These centers aim to build a knowledge-based society by offering services such as early childhood care, alternative education, and literacy programs.
The Union Parishad has designated a Lifelong Learning Resource Center (ULRC) to oversee CLC activities, while Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, supports the initiative through the Non-Formal Education, Research, and Extension Cell (BNREC). The District Bureau of Non-Formal Education (DBNFE) in Rangpur provides technical guidance, with CIVIC Foundation playing a central role in coordinating these efforts under the ‘Sustainable Lifelong Learning Mechanism’.
Today, CIVIC Foundation’s lifelong learning initiative serves as a dynamic platform addressing the educational and skill development needs of diverse community groups, empowering individuals to thrive in both personal and professional spheres.
