
An overview
The CIVIC Foundation began its journey as a research organization on 8 November 2007 in Rangpur, Bangladesh. It was formally registered with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) on 7 September 2008 (Reg. No. S-8225 (245)/08). At its inception, the organization’s full legal name was Comprehensive Initiatives for Vulnerable Improvement and Consultancy Foundation. Later, it officially adopted the abbreviated title CIVIC Foundation, as endorsed by the RJSC. In 2021, the CIVIC Foundation received certification under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2015).
The Foundation further strengthened its legitimacy and operational mandate by securing registration from the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) on 4 December 2025 (Reg. No. 3540). Headquartered in Rangpur, with its central administrative office in Dhaka and additional regional offices as required, the CIVIC Foundation brings over 17 years of institutional experience.
Over the years, it has built strong and enduring partnerships with government ministries, corporate bodies, development organizations, private enterprises, state actors, and marginalized communities across Bangladesh. The Foundation also collaborates actively with universities, research centers, and human rights organizations to enrich its knowledge and enhance its operational impact.
With a strategic focus on both research and social development, the CIVIC Foundation continues to devote in strengthening institutional governance, technical capacity, and service excellence. It remains committed to upholding international standards while contributing to sustainable development, equitable progress, and inclusive growth throughout Bangladesh.
