The CIVIC Foundation was not established with any rigid objectives or predefined mission, nor does it intend to confine itself to narrow goals in the future. However, depending on the evolving needs of time and context, its members determine their own focus areas and modes of engagement. Definitely such minimum level of structure is essential for moving forward.
In Rangpur city, the tea stall of Bulu Bhai at the Bangladesh Bank intersection was once the gathering place of unemployed educated youth. Jokingly, we used to call it the “Center of the Universe.” Before my retirement, I would sit there almost every day after office. I was eager to share my writings with others, though in exchange I had to treat the listeners to countless cups of tea. Yet hardly anyone wished to listen, claiming my writings were too complex! Still, as a stubborn enthusiast, I would read them aloud, then explain them like a classroom lecture until they made sense.
